One of my favorite restaurant in Austin. The last time we Chinese here was to celebrate my retirement and did the Signature Omakase. Awesome experience! Yesterday we dined here to celebrate our anniversary! Everything was delicious! From the wagyu sushi to the oysters. Everything feels was made with a personal touch and uniquely tasty. Ingredients were fresh. Service was top notch and very lively ambience and vibe

Uchiko has a beautiful interior with both a sushi bar and wine bar for seating options. We sat at the sushi bar - and it was impressive to see the chefs preparing the finely sliced fish with an attention to detail and presentation! All servers were incredibly attentive, filling water - and explaining the menu in great detail. The sushi chef who chatted with us was so genuinely excited about the dishes he was making and the quality of the ingredients, it was hard not to become equally invested in the dishes. We ordered an assortment, including the hama chili, brussel sprouts, crispy potatoes, bincho (nigiri with albacore tuna), and gyudon with short rib and a fried egg. The standouts were most certainly the bincho and the gyudon. Do not leave without trying the gyudon, which comes atop the most perfectly crispy fried rice. While it is not cheap, the experience makes it worthwhile - and I look forward to returning.

Adara was amazing and made my dreams come true with an amazing jasmine dessert! A welcome treat after many rounds of karage, p-38, eggplant, carrots, take nabe, dumplings and various nigiri.

This place is exquisite! If you enjoy seafood, you are going to go home the most satisfied. The minimal ingredients used by the chefs to enhance the flavors to make your dish taste so rich and exquisite, it is mind blowing and extremely satisfying. SO let's start with the ambiance - as good as you will imagine for an upscale restaurant service - same comment as above, extremely friendly and sweet staff has valet parking options Food - we tried the modified Omakase ( I know there is a name to it but it just isn't popping into my head lol), this is where your server will ask you questions based on your meat/flavors/budget preferences and then curate a menu for you, confirm with you before placing the order, and then it starts!! We got 7-8 dishes, with the most delicious tasting fish, mushroom, snap fried chicken I have ever tried. These flavors are what make you understand the price point behind these restaurants. I definitely don't remember the name of everything we ate but I will attach photos for atleast some idea. The service was quick, constant checking in which I appreciated because it is kind of a surprise menu lol. But yeah, a must have experience for sure! The Omakase goes upto $350+. We paid $250 (w/o tip) for our meal and I am happy about it! Thanks for a great time Uchiko :)

I've been visiting Uchiko semi-regularly since moving to Austin in 2010. The first time was on a date -- rather, it was on a date to meet my partner's mother, and I was petrified. The prosecco helped. I will never forget the Duck Four Ways. It is forever embedded in my culinary memoryscape. These days, I've developed a pattern. I will habitually order the Brussels sprouts whenever available, the wedge salad, the uni and unagi, and anything containing hamachi or toro. Plus Suntory Toki. On the rocks. 72-hour short rib. Now that's a poem.

This place is great for happy hour, if you can get a reservation! Prices are great for the quality of food that you get. I love the modernized and western takes on sushi and how they introduce different flavor combinations that you would not be able to get elsewhere. I also really enjoyed their kabocha tempura.

I came here with my sister to celebrate my 30th birthday and we had a fabulous time! Grabbing a reservation was easy online and I mentioned we were coming for my birthday. While the parking lot can seem a bit chaotic, the free valet service made it so easy to head inside. Because it was my birthday, they brought out two different complimentary bites and ensured there were two of everything so my sister was also able to enjoy! I was absolutely stuffed by the time we left, but it was an incredible meal and everyone was absolutely lovely. The ambiance was a bit more intimate, although the atmosphere was very inviting and felt welcoming to conversations and noise. It's always nice when there is a friendly chatter! We also tried a cocktail (or two!), and while they were pretty good, the real star of the show was the sushi itself. Highly recommend visiting for special occasions!

Our second time at Uchiko was even better than the first (we live South, so more likely to visit Uchi than drive North!). We remembered our bartender from the last time we visited which was probably a year ago, and he was still so damn cool. He even gifted us two scallop nigiri which were DELISH. We were there for happy hour before an event nearby and were lucky enough to snag at seat at the wine bar. Our fave item on the HH menu is the Hama Chili... so good we ordered a second one at the end of our meal. One of the bartenders even suggested drinking the ponzu sauce and my S/O did not hesitate, lol. Aaron was our bartender and we'd come back for his service alone. Great guy. Thanks Aaron!! And thanks to the girls at the hostess stand - they keep their cool in rush (happy) hour and are (or were) really accommodating.

Anna - thank you for spoiling us tonight. Not my first time at Uchiko, but definitely my favorite so far. Each dish was perfection, and you and the team helped make things seamless for us.

Where do I even begin... If you're wanting to celebrate, go on a date, need a lil treat after a hard week, or just want to be around amazing people who'll serve up even more amazing dishes - you've found the right place to go. This tucked away Japanese kitchen is the best decision you'll make any day of the week. Everything is curated perfectly, attentively, and some with a lil touch of fun. I've been here a handful of times, and have always left with a smile on my face and my jeans bursting with a belly full of joy. There's really nothing you could order that would disappoint - and if anything, trust your chef. Everything is curated and coursed out, and separated on the menu for your convenience. All the staff is highly knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to navigating the menu and dishes, as well as what pairs. If I had to pick out anything specific... Hama Chili (classic), All of the nigiri (esp. the aged tuna & fatty salmon belly), I also really liked the toro nuta, hot rock, madai (best), masaba, p-38, and the milk n honey dessert Additionally, the ambiance is fun, dark lighting, and spacious but mid volume. Also - want to give the most special thanks to the best chef de cuisine, Steven Attwood who has made every experience a special one.
